Activities Assistant
Performs duties involving the implementation of an activity program, which meets physical, mental, psychosocial needs and interests of residents.


Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licensure: WY Certified Nursing Assistant license and CDL

Work Experience: Minimum one-year supervised experience in a health care setting or related experience.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Provides all customers with an excellent service experience while maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions.

Must possess a team-oriented attitude and adhere to a continued willingness to implement new systems of operation when changes are required to promote patient and facility health, safety and satisfaction.

Conduct self in a professional, courteous manner with co-workers, staff and the public in order to maintain a cooperative relationship among the healthcare teams. Must adhere to a philosophy and culture of teamwork and cooperation.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously. Must be able to prioritize projects and handle change productively when assigned additional tasks/projects.

Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills, as well as a high level of sophistication to effectively communicate and interact with customers, co-workers, supervisors and the public.

Able to carry out the essential functions of this job (with or without reasonable accommodation) without posing specific, current risk of substantial harm to health and safety of self and others.


Responsible for assisting with the planning of activities to meet resident's specific needs, to include large group, small group, and individual participation as scheduled.

Maintain documentation as required by State and Federal regulations.

Assures personal and staff compliance to all State and Federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous material, and fire safety.

Assures personal and staff compliance to Resident's Rights.

Assists Activity Director to develop Activity calendars. Posts calendars on resident units and distributes these schedules.

Places all Activities equipment and supplies in the proper storage areas. Maintains Activities space in clean and orderly manner which is safe, including proper placement of furniture and orderly storage of equipment and supplies in drawers, cupboards, etc. Performs additional cleaning tasks as assigned.

May be required to operate an automobile and various equipment associated with recreational programming.

Perform C.N.A. functions and duties within the scope of license, education and training if/when requested by supervisor

This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with an intimate, 24-hour care environment that delivers care and services to the disabled and cognitively impaired and to the acutely ill and injured. Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to; shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents/patients, family reactions, oversight of state surveyors, federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff.

Essential functions are carried out in a variety of positions including standing and sitting. Virtually all positions require the ability to move freely through the building. Stooping, bending, lifting and carrying, as well as other physical demands may be required. Complete awareness of safety with equipment for self, residents, and patients.
