Network and Health Information Technician
The information technology specialist and medical records technician will provide support to the IT and medical records department with various duties involving organization, support and procedure implementation.


Education: High school diploma and/or GED. Associate Degree in related field preferred

Licensure: None

Experience: Knowledge and experience with common operating systems, such as Windows.
Knowledge and experience with medical records and HIPAA compliance

Set up user accounts on all systems, reset passwords and assists with addressing common issues such as printing errors, computer restarts, computer errors and networking problems. Utilize online resources and personal ingenuity to resolve systems problems

Will be required to contact appropriate vendors to resolve problems that arise in the IT department; to include TCT West and Ptolemy. Will inform supervisor of issues that are beyond the minimal error situations.

Participate in maintenance and services of IT equipment, including routine cleaning of PC and workstations. Will participate in workstation moves and setup as required.

Installation or reinstallation of operating systems as required and as workstations age to ensure continual efficient operations.

Must participate in an on-call schedule for the IT department.

Perform quality control audits on the E.H.R system to ensure accurate adherence to procedures for the system. To include reviewing records for accuracy and completeness.

Support the efficient and effective use of the electronic medical record and contribute to positive results with the revenue cycle processes.

Assist Medical Records Department with organization and evaluating patient medical records. Process patient transfer file requests in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements. Assist in management of past medical records and potential disposal according to Federal and State guidelines.

Create reports and prepare forms as needed by the IT department and medical records department. Prepares statistical reports for facility analysis and/or government requirements.

Answers questions and provide information directed at the IT department and medical records.

Assist Medical Records and IT Department in the creation, implementation and observance of facility policies and procedures.

Follow facility policies and procedures and adhere to local/state/federal rules, regulation and laws.
