Nurse Manager - Nursing
POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Manager is tasked with overseeing the continued optimal function of the skilled nursing facility as well as the quality of health care provided by the nurses and other medical personnel. The Nursing Manager is a working manager and will be expected to perform the functions of a registered nurse as well as the functions listed below.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, or in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree.

Licensure: Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience as a registered nurse. Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred

Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.


PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Strong leadership ability with a focus on cultivating a team environment and motivating staff to produce and follow the facilities mission, values and culture.

Adhere to and promote the continued willingness to re-evaluate procedures, policies and structures to implement new systems of operation when changes are required to promote patient and facility health, safety and satisfaction.

Conduct self in a professional, courteous manner with co-workers, staff and the public in order to maintain a cooperative relationship among the healthcare teams and to effectively communicate with all nursing home staff.

Able to carry out the essential functions of this job (with or without reasonable accommodation) without posing specific, current risk of substantial harm to health and
safety of self and others.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain nursing home staff through recruitment, hiring, training, counseling, evaluating and disciplining current and future members as the situation requires. Discuss and report any staff concerns, with solutions, to the Director of Nursing.

Conduct daily rounding with nursing home staff to optimize resident health, safety and satisfaction and promote employee satisfaction and confidence.

Participate in home healthcare meetings for residents and provide reports on any major or special concerns to Director of Nursing.

Conduct investigations on incidents occurring within nursing home staff, residents and/or facility and create precise reports as mandated by facility policy and State and/or Federal laws and regulations.

Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff through facility demands and State and Federal laws and/or regulations.

May assist Director of Nursing with creating, reviewing and submitting reports required by government agencies to ensure appropriate funding.
