Laboratory Medical Technician
POSITION SUMMARY:

The medical technician will provide laboratory services to the hospital, clinic and nursing home within the facility. The individual will undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of a technical nature to provide accurate and timely testing for patients. The individual will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests to report findings to appropriate personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education: Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from an accredited institution.

Licensure: ASCP Registered or equivalent

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the medical laboratory setting preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Phlebotomy
Sample collection
Quality Control Testing
Chemistry techniques
Clinical Lab Testing
Supply Management
Equipment Calibration
Biohazard Safety
Laboratory computer programs, to include: LIS, EMM and E.H.R.
Basic Computer knowledge
Customer Services
Medical teamwork
Attention to detail
Familiarity with lab environment

Make sure to drink plenty of water the night before your lab draw and take your regularly scheduled medication.

The patient is responsible for getting a copy of the lab results to their provider.
