    Dietary Assistant - Dietary
    In keeping with our organization's tradition, we seek to enhance the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons by providing high quality service in a cheerful, timely manner and by communicating, coordinating and cooperating with others to attain goals. Dietary assistant is responsible for providing food service to residents, guests and employees under sanitary conditions and for providing assistance in all dietary functions as directed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

    Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

    Licensure: None

    Work Experience: Previous experience as a dietary assistant.

    Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

    Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.


    PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Appreciates the importance of maintaining confidentiality of resident/patient and facility information.

    Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of facility. Able to locate nearest exit, to understand and respond to written or oral instruction in case of emergency.

    Working knowledge and ability to comply with facility policies and procedures for workplace safety including infection control procedures, application of universal precautions for blood borne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment and handling of hazardous materials.

    Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties/projects within allotted time.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Delivers food to patients and residents.

    Takes food orders from various departments.

    Assists the dietary cook in the preparation of meals.

    Cleans dishes and maintains a clean kitchen workspace.

    Prepares medically ordered special drinks.
